Hyderabad Police have intensified their investigation into a major drug racket after naming Aman Preet Singh, brother of Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh, as one of the alleged consumers. According to officials, Aman is currently absconding, and multiple police teams have been deployed to trace his whereabouts.
The case came to light after a major drug bust carried out by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) in coordination with the West Zone Police. The operation was conducted on December 19 near Chacha Nehru Park in the Masab Tank area of Hyderabad.
How did the police crack the case?
During the operation, police intercepted a grey car and arrested two individuals, Nitin Singhania, a real estate broker, and Shranik Singhvi, a businessman. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 43.7 grams of cocaine and 11.5 grams of MDMA, which were reportedly hidden inside the dashboard.
Officials confirmed that the seized substances were verified on the spot by the Clues Team. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the drugs were being sourced from African suppliers and distributed locally through a small network of consumers.
How did Aman Preet Singh’s name come up?
During questioning, the arrested men allegedly named several individuals who were part of the consumption network. According to police sources, Aman Preet Singh was identified as one of the consumers. Officials stated that he had allegedly purchased drugs multiple times from the same network.
A senior officer revealed that this is not the first time Aman’s name has surfaced in a narcotics-related probe. In July 2024, he was reportedly questioned in another drug case registered by Cyberabad Police, where he was again listed as a consumer.
What are the police saying now?
Confirming the development, DCP West Zone Ch. Srinivas said that Aman Preet Singh is currently absconding and that special teams have been formed to trace him. “Based on the interrogation of the arrested accused, his name has surfaced again. We are making all efforts to locate him and will decide the next course of action once he is questioned,” he said.
Police added that, depending on further findings, decisions will be taken regarding legal action, counselling, or rehabilitation.
What charges have been filed?
The case has been registered under multiple sections of the NDPS Act, including Sections 8(c), 22(b)(c), 27(a), 27(A), and 29, along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing to identify other links in the drug supply chain.
As the probe deepens, the case has once again brought the spotlight to drug abuse and its growing reach across social circles, including those connected to the entertainment industry.
