Ramayan is being aired in two time-slots with fresh episodes daily at 9 am and 9 pm. The popular TV shows of the ’90s hold emotional values for many people growing up in the late ’80s and ’90s. The re-telecast of Ramayan and other popular DD National shows is an attempt by the I&B Ministry to encourage people to stay inside their homes amid the coronavirus lockdown in the country till April 14.
The other shows that have taken over the small screens apart from Ramayan are BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, Chanakya, Shaktimaan, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Alif Laila, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Circus, Byomkesh Bakshi, Shriman Shrimati, Buniyaad and Upanishad Ganga.
Meanwhile, on Friday, April 3, as PM Modi addresses the nation on coronavirus at 9 am, Doordarshan has delayed the telecast of Ramayan. In an official tweet, the channel announced that the show will be aired as soon as PM’s speech is over.
