Bad news for those eagerly awaiting Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The much-awaited film, which is expected to unfold chapters of Sanjay Dutt’s personal and professional life, has been postponed yet again and will now release in June. Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, the untitled Dutt biopic has been hitting the headlines ever since its announcement. Ranbir’s film has been in the making for a year and a half now, yet there is still a bit of patchwork remaining. However, this is not the reason to why the release date of the forthcoming biopic has been shifted but for a better reason. Earlier we had reported that Fox Star Studios announced that Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani starrer action film Baaghi 2 would release on March 30 instead of April 27 to avoid a clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Now, Dutt’s biopic that is bankrolled under the same banner name (Fox Star Studios), the makers decided to postpone the biopic so as to avoid letting two of their films clash. Reportedly, the slot (March 30) allotted for Dutt’s biopic but the makers decided to prepone Baaghi 2 instead. They reconsidered their decision since Kangana Ranaut’s film is releasing on April 27. Fox Star Studios’ Twitter handle took to social media to announce the release date for the much-awaited film and wrote, “The no-holds-barred story of Sanjay Dutt, directed by @RajkumarHirani, #DuttBiopic releasing on June 29! Besides Ranbir Kapoor, the film also features Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Karishma Tanna and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles. In one of Bhoomi’s promotional event, Sanjay was asked about his biopic being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the actor replied, “I’m lucky and humbled that they are making a biopic on a guy who is still alive. Ranbir has done a fantastic job, there is nobody better than Rajkumar Hirani.” Well, Ranbir and the biopic had become the talk of the town ever since his look (Ranbir’s transformation and his uncanny resemblance to Dutt in the film) went viral on the internet.
