Repost @cinema_appetite : ANATOMY OF AN ACTOR RASIKA DUGAL ( @rasikadugal ) “Honestly, when you decide to become an actor, you’re not thinking of the magnitude of the films you want to be part of. You just want to work, no matter where those films are played, or what format it’s made in. Be it on the big screen or the screens on your phone, a story is a story and it’ll make an impact if it’s made well. Having said that, I am beginning to realise that the reach of content online is so much wider, that it gives you validation of your work reaching a larger audience. That makes a huge difference- Rasika Dugal Rasika is among the foremost widespread Indian actors within the chop-chop growing and ever-changing area of digital content in India. Rasika is Versatile actor, whose love for the craft supersedes everything, and it reflects each time she’s on screen. To add to that, the projects she’s been a part of have something substantial to say. it’s not possible to forget however her characters mould a movie, even once you may fail to recollect her presence in them. Over the last one year, she has received rave reviews for her performances in Manto, Lust Stories, Once Again, Hamid, Mirzapur, Made In Heaven and Delhi Crime. Her performances in feature films like Manto,Kshay,Qissa and Hamid have been appreciated, even more than the films themselves. My favorite performance of her is in Tu hain mera sunday where she plays a role of young woman who blames herself for having birthed deaf children but who refuses to restrain the sunniness of her smile, and there is a character who translates the words “Mujh pe mat jaa” in inimitably In Manto, Dugal coloured Safia’s helplessness with an understated grace; quietly pleading with a celebrated author to be the man his family needs him to be instead of outrightly demanding it. She doesn’t steal the scene but happily inhabits it with a single-mindedness that serves her character without calling attention to herself. We can’t wait to see you in more films and web series, Rasika! Keep on surprising us!
