Stand-up comedian Rehman Khan of Comedy Circus fame has been reportedly arrested on charges of rape. A complaint was filed against the actor on February 29, reports The Times of India, but it is not known yet who has filed the charges (the name has not been revealed). Rehman Khan has apparently also acted in the movies, but has largely been seen on television as a stand-up comedian on Sony Entertainment Television, Star Plus, Star One, Colors TV and Sahara.
TOI reports that a 30-year-old woman from Mumbai filed a complaint against Rehman Khan at the Santacruz police station. The case has now been transferred to the Waliv police station in Vasai.
The alleged victim became friends with the comedian through social media app WeChat a year ago. She alleges that Khan borrowed Rs 2 lakh from her, and when she asked for the money, he reportedly called her to a hotel in Vasai, a suburb of Mumbai, and raped her. The comedian also allegedly shot the heinous act on his phone and blackmailed her.
Khan was seen as a participant in Comedy Circus 2, Comedy Circus Chincpokli to China, Comedy Circus 20:20 with Rakshanda Khan, Comedy Ka Mahasangram with Karishma Tanna, Jubilee Comedy Circus with Saloni Daini, Comedy Ke Superstar with Usha Nadkarni, Comedy Circus Ki Kahani with Ragini Khanna, Comedy Circus 3 Ka Tadka with Anoop Soni and Shweta Tiwari.He also competed in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge season 3, Comedy Champions, Chote Miya Bade Miya, Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala, Nautanki – The Comedy Theatre, Mad in India with Sunil Grover.
