After Kaala and 2.0, Rajinikanth will be seen in Karthik Subbaraj's next

Even as Rajinikanth fans wait to see Thalaiva regale them in films like Kaala and 2.0, they are waiting to know what to expect from his film with young director Karthik Subbaraj. Ever since the Sun Picture’s film was announced, fans have been wondering on how the young filmmaker has envisioned to showcase the superstar on the big screen. That he is not a veteran and just a few films old in the industry also has everyone surprised and envying his luck.

Talking about how he convinced the superstar to sign on his film, Karthik revealed in a recent interview, “Rajini sir liked the script very much when I narrated, and immediately gave his nod.” The fact that Rajni was impressed with the filmmaker’s maiden work, Pizza and later upon a chance meeting, mentioned that he would have done a role he had written in the film Jigarthanda if asked, would have also worked in his favour. Recounting the lucky incidences, Karthik shared, “I will never forget the first call I received from Rajini sir after watching Pizza. His encouraging words had boosted my confidence. Later, I met him on the sets of Lingaa. He appreciated by directorial effort in Jigarthanda and I confessed that I wrote Bobby Simha’s role while keeping in mind his Parattai character in Bharathiraja’s 16 Vayadhinile. He casually said he would have done the part himself had I told him.”
A few years later, that dream is coming true. Karthik also knows that expectations from him are high since this is a Rajinikanth film and backed by a big banner as Sun Pictures. “The expectations have risen, and my responsibility is manifold,” acknowledged the director while adding that the shoot will begin from May on wards and we can expect the title around the same time. The film will be wrapped up before the end of this year.
Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who worked with Karthik Subbaraj in Pizza and Iraivi and did a cameo in Jigarthanda has also been roped in to this untitled project.
