Actor Rhea Chakraborty was brought to Byculla jail by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) ON Wednesday morning. On the other hand, Samuel Miranda, Showik Chakraborty, Dipesh Sawant, and others arrested by the anti-narcotics bureau, presented in the court today through video conferencing. The 28-year-old actor was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the investigation of the drug angle in the Bollywood drug nexus case and Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The arrest was made under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. She was remanded in NCB custody for 14-day judicial custody till September 22. Her bail plea was also rejected. The remand application submitted in the court on Tuesday reads, “Based upon disclosure of Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, and Dipesh Sawant, one more person Rhea Chakraborty was summoned and her voluntary statement was recorded. During her statement on all three days she was confronted to all other accused persons and facts in their statements was verified. She has acknowledged their statements and her role explained. During the statement present respondent, Rhea Chakraborty revealed about her involvement in the procurement of drug and financial transactions. Therefore, it is clear from statement that respondent is an active member of drug syndicate connected with drug supplies.”
The NCB has charged Rhea under sections 89(c), 20(b), 27(a), 28 and 29 of the NDPS act. Rhea’s arrest came three days after her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda, and his house helper Dipesh Sawant were arrested and sent in NCB custody till September 9 (Wednesday), besides two other drug peddlers Abdel Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra, who are also in NCB custody.
