Director Rakhee Shandilya brings to us a story of a young, married couple who go through the crests and troughs of life together, with love helping them tide over. As Shahana and Karan, Kalki Koechlin and Sumeet Vyas portray the complicated lives of new age couples. The situations in their lives are so real – be it their arguments or the way they deal with trying situations – that the Ribbon trailer will strike a chord in an instant.
In the Ribbon trailer, we see Kalki and Sumeet’s characters try to deal with an unexpected pregnancy and the various aspects attached to it. The fears, the doubts, the insecurities and the unpredictable turns that life sometimes takes – some of which we are ready to face and some, which test us. Often, it is nothing less than a struggle to come out of the lows. And yet, it is love that pulls us back on our feet.
It is the strength that being in a loving relationship gives one to face life’s challenges. That’s exactly where the heart of Ribbon lies. The trailer has subtle messages for young couples, who find themselves giving in to the pressure, letting the relationship go for a toss and finding solace in blaming the other for all that’s going wrong. Ribbon promises a heartwarming tale of how love and faith can mend things and stop loose ends from coming undone.
The trailer promises a film that is as close as a story on real couples can come. It is a blend of story and situations that will make couples of today witness their own life unfurl on the screen, retrospect and perhaps take some lessons as well. The film is scheduled for a November 3 release and is the first time where Kalki and Sumeet have collaborated.
