Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who co-starred with Sridevi in a number of films like Chandni, Nagina, Gurudev, Kaun Sachcha Kaun Jhootha and Banjaran, took a jibe at media houses for referring to the late actor Sridevi’s mortal remains as a ‘mere body’. Rishi, who is miffed with the media coverage of the actress, took to his micro-blogging site to share a tweet, which read, “How has Sridevi all of a sudden become the “body”? Kapoor also had taken to Twitter to offer his condolences on the death of Bollywood’s ‘Roop Ki Rani’. Sharing a picture of the late actor from the film Chandni, he wrote, “Woken up to this tragic news. Absolute shock. Sad. Heartfelt condolences to Boney and their two daughters!” His another tweet read, “Henceforth no more Moonlit nights! Chandni gone forever. Alas!” Also, Rishi blackened his profile picture on Twitter and changed his bio to ‘Sridevi. RIP’, as a mark of tribute to the actress. This has been the saddest weekend in Indian cinema. Sridevi, arguably Bollywood’s first female superstar, died late Saturday night reportedly due to a cardiac arrest in Dubai; the actress’ sudden death has left legions of fans and the film industry shocked and heartbroken. Sridevi had gone to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding along with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi; while Boney Kapoor, Khushi decided to return post the wedding, Sridevi chose to stay back. The 54-year-old, who is survived by her husband – producer Boney Kapoor – and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi, will be brought back to India today and the funeral of superstar Sridevi is expected to take place in Mumbai today. The actress would have completed 50 years in Indian cinema this year and the last film she shot was Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Watch this space for further updates.
