Rising Star Red Carpet 18 March 2017 episode welcomes all its 16 contestants. India has chosen its favourite 16 and in tonight’s episode as well as the following episodes, these 16 brilliant singers would compete to become India’s first Rising Star. First up is Ameya Date, who sings Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam’s ‘Kill Dil’ and scores 89 per cent. Shankar Mahadevan goes and hugs Ameya at the end of the performance. Shankar Mahadevan gives everyone a trivia about this song which was sung by him and Sonu Nigam. He tells Ameya that this song is one of the most difficult songs that they have composed and both Sonu Nigam and him had to record it twice because they weren’t satisfied with the first recording. Next contestant to perform is Nikita. Now between Ameya and Nikita the one who scores less would have to sit on the red seat. Nikita attempts ‘Barso Re’ and easily gets Shankar and Monali’s votes. Nikita gets 84 per cent votes, 5 per cent less than Ameya.
Ankita Sachdev is up next but before she starts singing, it’s Ankita’s husband’s birthday, who is in Australia and they make a skype call to him. Ankita’s whole family has gathered there. They all wish her all the luck. Ankita sings Shreya Ghoshal’s ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’ and scores 82 per cent. Shankar Mahadevan and Monali are not at all impressed by her performance and as always are honest about their opinions. They tell Ankita that both of them just voted her only for her husband and her family. So, Nikita comes back to the green sofa while Ankita has to go and sit on the red one. Ankita had performed really well in the last episode of Duels Ki Takkar against Sheuli but this one was an average performance. Maithili sings ‘Albela Sajan’ and scores an unbelievable 92 per cent! Maithili goes back to the green zone. Shankar, Monali and Diljit are left speechless after her outstanding performance. Next up is Rakshita, who sings Sunidhi Chauhan ‘Aa Zara’ scores a disappointing 67 per cent, an without Shankar Mahadevan’s vote. Humsufi performs next and attempt Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Kinna Sona Tennu Rab Ne Banaya’, and easily break 67 per cent target set by Rakshita. Their voting stops at 87 per cent. They go back to the green zone, safe zone.
Next up is Chelsi, who performs on Monali Thakur’s ‘Cham Cham’ and receives Shankar and Diljit’s votes quite quickly. Monali also swipes green for Chelsi and she gets 88 per cent votes in all. So, Chelsi is also safe as she has gone past Rakshita’s 67 per cent.
Nitin Nayak comes next on the stage and attempts ‘Ye Housla Kaise Jhuke’ and scores 79 per cent. So, Rakshita leaves the show tonight as Nitin breaches her target of 67 per cent. However, Nitin received the expert votes just in the nick of time, he makes it to the final round. Shankar Mahadevan tells him that his performance wasn’t up-to-the-mark tonight and Diljit also rightly tells him that he has to work on his pronunciation. Rakshita bids a goodbye to the Rising Star.
