India has chosen its favourite 16 through a tough Duels Ki Takkar, which was equally hard for the contestants as well as the viewers and experts. Now it is going to get even difficult to choose between these 16 gems, who have, till now, given their best in the competition and reached this level. The top 16 include Vikramjeet, Ankita, Maithili, Shreyasi, Bannet, Jidnesh, Ragdeep Group, Afsana, Nikita, Ameya, Diljot Qawwali group, Chelsi, Hum Sufi, Ankita, Nitin and Rakshita. Yes, there are two Ankitas in the top 16! During the last two weeks, Anushka Sharma came on the show to encourage the contestants as well as to promote her upcoming moviw, Phillauri, co-starring Diljit Dosanjh.
Last week, Bollywood’s Badrinath, Varun Dhawan and his dulhania, Alia Bhatt entertained the audience with their respective performances. On one hand, where Alia Bhatt sang a beautiful number from her movie, Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, Varun Dhawan set the stage on fire with his energetic dance, even as the contestants left the audience spellbound with their beautiful renditions. Last two weeks have been gruelling for the contestants, when they had to fight it out with their friends and the show saw some hard-to-believe ousters and a tie. The viewers have not forgotten Anmol’s mesmerizing performance on Sukhwinder Singh’s ‘Rut Agayi Re’, and the tie between Sukhdeep and Bannet. Sukhdeep and Bannet both scored 92 per cent but according to the concept of the show, where only one contestant could go through to the final 16, Bannet received 0.05 per cent more votes and won. Tonight’s episode is a Red Carpet for all the 16 finalists, who have worked so hard to reach this place and so close to their aim of becoming India’s first Rising Star. They have all come from different parts of India and different backgrounds, but would be performing together and against each other henceforth.
