Colors Rising Star 19 March 2017 episode starts with the next eight contestants out of 16, introducing the show with their song ‘Galla goodiyan’ song and set the stage for yet another entertaining episode.
Tonight’s first contestant is Afsana. Afsana tells Chang and Raghav that she is missing her sisters a lot, whom she considers her lucky charm, so they both make a skype call to her sisters and mother. Afsana thanks them. Afsana sings ‘Main ghani bawari hogayi’ and Monali is the first one to vote for her, followed by Shankar Mahadevan. By the end of her performance, Diljit is dancing and her voting stops at a brilliant 92 per cent! Maithili was the top-scorer in the last episode with 92 per cent! Next up is Vikram Jeet, who has to breach Afsana’s 92 per cent, otherwise he would have to go and sit on the red sofa, the unsafe zone. Vikram Jeet has a record of securing the highest percentage of votes in the show till now! Before he starts his performance, Chang introduces the whole ITBP battalion, which Vikram Jeet is part of. All the experts and the studio audience stand up and salute them. After an emotional dose of nationalism, Vikram Jeet attempts Kailash Kher’s ‘Saiyyan’ and 5 seconds into the song receives Monali and Shankar Mahadevan’s votes. Ankita performs next, she sings Kavita Subramaniam’s ‘Maar Dala’ and she falls just 2 per cent short of Afsana’s target and would have to replace Afsana on the red sofa. Shankar Mahadevan, Monali as well as Diljit praise her and Shankar even offers her a chance in one of his movies as a lead playback singer!
Diljot Qawwali group is up next, and they have to get 91 per cent. They perform a medley of ‘Baawre/Aya Dar Per Tere’ and receive all the expert votes within seconds. Their voting stops at 88 per cent, 2 per cent short of Ankita’s. So, Ankita comes back to the green sofa, hence safe zone.
Jidnesh comes next and sings Ajay-Atul Gogavale’s ‘Jhingat or Zhingat’ and his peppy number gets everybody dancing! And when the voting stops, Woah! It’s the second tie of the show! the first one was between Bannet and Sukhdeep during Duels Ki Takkar, in which Bannet won by a thin margin of 0.05 per cent votes! And tonight, Diljot Qawwali group is safe with 88.75 per cent votes, only 0.51 per cent ahead of Jidnesh’s score (88.24 per cent).
Next contestant is Shreyasi who has to score 89 per cent to be in the safe zone. Shreyasi attempts Kavita Subramaniam’s ‘Kay Sera Sera’ and scores 81 per cent with all the expert votes. But Shreyasi is unable to beat Jidnesh’s target and hence, replaces him on the red sofa. Meanwhile, Diljit is too amused with the ‘Jhingat’ song and has searched for its lyrics online, so that he can sing. He attempts the ‘Jhingat’ with Jidnesh.
Ragdeep group performs next on ‘Khwaab Dekhe/Lawg Gawacha’ with its two beatboxers. Although theirs was a brilliant performance, their voting stops at 76 per cent. So, Shreyasi is back on the green sofa. next up is Bannet who has to beat Ragdeep’s score 77 per cent to get through to the next round. Bannet performs Sukhwinder Singh’s ‘Dard-e-Disco’ and scores an incredible 94 per cent! He becomes the top-scorer of the top 16! Ragdeep have to leave the show while Bannet gets in!
