Popular YouTubers Gaurav Taneja (Flying Beast) and Ritu Rathee, who became widely loved during the coronavirus pandemic, have confirmed their separation. On Monday, Ritu Rathee broke her silence on the rumours surrounding their marriage, addressing her followers in an emotional video. She urged people not to villainise Gaurav and expressed frustration with social media’s intrusion into their personal lives. Ritu emphasised that their separation was a private matter, clarifying that their altercations do not define the entire relationship.
She called out some of her followers (Ritu Army), who had breached her privacy by sharing zoomed-in footage of her during a spiritual visit to Premanand Govind Sharan in Varanasi, and reminded everyone that marriage issues are complex and should not be reduced to taking sides. She further mentioned that neither she nor Gaurav were at fault entirely, asking people to refrain from judging them.
Ritu also agreed that it was her voice in the viral video where she wanted answers about life from Premanand Govind Sharan.
The video shared by Ritu Rathee titled, ‘Divorce Reality Check’. She showed anger towards gossip mongers for assuming they know what went down in her marriage of eight years. Ritu told that whatever happens in a marriage, should not come in open and she wants to share with her fans then she will use social media. “A small thing happened between a husband and wife. He thought he was right, I thought I was right. He became stubborn, and so did I,” she said.
“But does that mean that you will tell me what kind of a man he was? I know that man inside out. I don’t need to hear from you whether he is genuine, whether he was loyal. I have seen him go through every situation. I don’t need support from social media,” Rathee stated categorically. “I quit social media one year ago and I don’t regret it. People who live in glass houses love to gossip about others.”
“Earlier, when people lived in joint families, society blamed women for everything. Now, society has evolved, people have become independent. Now the man is blamed if a couple separates,” she said.
Ritu Rathee concluded the video by saying ‘Na galat karu, na galat sahu (I will never do something wrong, nor I will go through it.)’
