Hailing from Punjab, this actor had big dreams as a child. He always aspired to be an actor in Bollywood and was deeply determined to make that dream a reality. With no money or food to depend on, he moved from studio to studio in search of work, initially just to survive. We are talking about none other than Dharmendra Deol.
Dharmendra is a highly celebrated actor in Bollywood, renowned for his for his significant contribution to iconic films such as Phool Aur Patthar, Mere Gaon Mera Desh, Sholay, Ghayal and more. The actor has starred in 239 films in his career, delivering a record of 74 hits and 20 other semi-hits.
Dharmendra received his first break in Bollywood with the debut film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ in 1960 which was helmed by Arun Hingorani. He was only paid INR 51 for his work.
However, with his biggest blockbuster Sholay, the actor’s stardom rose to another level. His chemistry with Hema Malini was widely appreciated by the audience. Before falling in love with Hema Malini, Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur and had four kids, Sunny, Bobby, Vijeeta, and Ajeeta Deol.
Later, while was shooting for the movie Pratiggya, Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s romance blossomed and they later decided to get married. In the year 1980, Hema Malini, converted to Islam so that she could get married since Dharmendra’s first wife refused to grant him a divorce. The couple have two daughters-Esha and Ahana Deol.

In 2012, Dharmendra was awarded the Padma Bhushan award. In 1997, he was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for his tremendous contribution to Hindi cinema. He is one of the biggest actors that Bollywood has ever seen.
Reports suggest that Dharmendra charges around Rs 5 crore per film, and his annual income is said to be more than Rs 12 crore. As per GQ India, the veteran actor has net worth of Rs 335 crore. Moreover, he owns a 100-acre farmhouse, glimpses of which he keeps sharing on Instagram. In addition, he has a 12-acre resort and collection of luxury cars.
