“Talking purely business, I expect multiple things. I expect the highest ever day one collection for any film till date. I won’t be surprised if Baahubali 2 makes somewhere around Rs 65 crore to Rs 75 crore (India nett. box office collection) across all languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Kannada. Talking about the lifetime collections, it will be the highest ever grosser in it’s lifetime run as it will go beyond Rs 650 crore, again all languages combined,” says Akshaye. With such a huge buzz around the movie, how much can the movie potentially earn at the box office in the first weekend? Akshaye reveals to us exclusively, “As far as the weekend collections go (excluding the May 1 holiday in Maharashtra), Baahubali 2 will easily make Rs 200 crore plus. It’s creating history already as the film is being released over more than 7500 screens. No other film has witnesses such a wide release till date,” adds Akshaye. Have the makers hiked the ticket prices? If yes, how is that going to change the scenario? “At a lot of places, they have been hiked. But Baahubali 2 still will be a value for money, because Baahubali is not a film. Watching it at a theatre is an experience in itself. So watching it on TV or on iPad won’t be half as great as watching it on a 50 feet wide screen. Some films are specially made for that theatrical format and Baahubali is one of those. So I am sure for something like this which has great story-telling, amazing visuals, huge anticipation and excitement, people wouldn’t mind paying extra for something like this. Baahubali is an experience that deserves the money that is being charged for it.

Taran Adarsh, Hindi movie critic and business analyst also says that Baahubali’s collections will be earth-shattering. “The craze for the film is unprecedented. I think it’s going to take a humongous start at the box office. There are varying figures as far as the screen count is concerned, so there is no clarity. The exact box office collection will depend on that. We will get a fair idea on Friday morning as to what opening the film will get. It’s a wait and watch situation, but of course the opening will be earth shattering,” says Taran Adarsh in an exclusive conversation with
