Saif Ali Khan is having a busy 2017 so far. After the actor wrapped up the shoot for Raja Krishna Menon‘s Chef, which is a remake of a Hollywood film of the same name, Saif turned his attention towards Akshat Verma’s Kalakaandi, whose first look was revealed recently. Saif then began with the shooting of Gauravv Chawla’s Bazaar in May, which co-stars Chitrangda Singh, Radhika Apte, and Rohan Mehra and expected to release in December this year.
As reported recently, Saif has also agreed to star in an upcoming Aanand L Rai production, which will be a thriller helmed by director Navdeep Singh. Navdeep, who has directed films like Anushka Sharma starrer NH10 (2015) and Abhay Deol’s Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) has had a good record in directing thrillers, which bodes well for Saif. This film, yet untitled, will be an epic based on the Battle of Buxar, which was fought in 1764 between the British and the combined armies of Mir Qasim, the Nawab of Bengal; the Nawab of Awadh; and the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. We’ve learned that for the first time, Saif will be playing the role of a warrior in a film. A source close to the project revealed to a tabloid, “Saif has heard the script and really liked it but is yet to sign on the dotted line. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and everything will be locked in a couple of months.”
Speaking to Mirror, a spokesperson of Aanand L Rai revealed that an official announcement isn’t far: “We’ll be happy to have Saif on board with this film. The talks are on and official announcements will follow soon.” Meanwhile, Aanand L Rai himself remains busy with the shooting of his untitled project with Shah Rukh Khan, where SRK plays the role of a dwarf.
