Salman Khan Firing Case: In the latest development in the Salman Khan case, one of the accused, Anuj Thapan, died by suicide in police custody. He was 32. Anuj hanged himself using a bedsheet inside the toilet of the lock-up. He was rushed to the state-run GT Hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment, news agency PTI quoted an official. An accidental death report will be registered at Azad Maidan police station in South Mumbai.

Anuj Thapan was accused of providing weapons to the shooters. The crime branch on April 23 arrested Anuj from Punjab, who had allegedly provided weapons and cartridges to the shooters. The police informed the court that the accused Anuj along with Subhash Chander were key persons in the crime and were arrested based on technical evidence.

The shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who opened fire outside the actor’s residence in Bandra were arrested from Gujarat’s Bhuj. The Mumbai Police has invoked MCOCA sections against all the arrested accused. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is the the gang leader and his brother Anmol Bishnoi took the responsibility for the firing at Salman Khan’s house. He also posted on his Facebook.

According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, before the firing went down, the shooters had recceed Salman’s residence four times. They had also staked out Salman’s farmhouse, the Crime Branch informed, adding that since the actor hadn’t visited his farmhouse over several days, they planned to execute the firing outside his plush Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra.
