Mumbai, July 26: Bollywood star Salman Khan came out in defence of 1993 blast convict Yakub Memon, who is scheduled to be hanged on July 30. In a series of tweets, Salman Khan said Yakub Memon has become an escape goat for the crimes committed by Tiger Memon. “Get tiger hang him. Salman Khan also expressed his anger on the investigative agencies who failed to nab Tiger Memon and even appealed the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to deport Tiger if he stays there. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor also admitted that he wanted to put his views on Yakub Memon’s hanging but couldn’t due to the sensitivity of the case. “Don’t hang brother hang tha lomdi (fox) who ran away,” Salman tweeted. This is the first time a celebrity raised question over the hanging of Yakub Memon. Memon is the lone death-row convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. As many as 257 persons were killed and over 700 injured in the serial blasts in Mumbai on March 12, 1993. Memon has filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court seeking a stay on his execution of death sentence after the President rejected his mercy petition. The hearing on his appeal will be on July 27.
