Salman Khan is one of the highly celebrated actors in Bollywood. He has given the audience some blockbusters including Sultan (2016), Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Wanted (2009), Bodyguard (2011), Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and many more.
With a noteworthy career and some of the biggest hits, there are few films which didn’t work in Salman Khan’s favour. One of them is till date considered his biggest flop and couldn’t even recover half of its budget. It is none other than the musical drama film Yuvvraaj, released in 2008. Apart from Khan, the film also starred Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif, Mithun Chakraborty and Boman Irani. Helmed by Subhash Ghai, the film received mixed reviews, but was ultimately declared a box office flop.

According to reports, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan were offered the film, but they all rejected it due to unknown reasons. In fact, Subhash Ghai also approached Aamir Khan for the film, but Mr. Perfectionist reportedly didn’t like the script. Shah Rukh Khan was also offered to portray the role of Gyanesh in the flick, but the actor declined the request.
Made on a hefty budget of Rs 48 crore, Yuvvraaj managed to earn just Rs 31 crore at the box office. The film couldn’t even recover half of its budget, leading a significant loss for producers. Despite featuring four Bollywood superstars, that is Mithun Chakraborty, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor, the film couldn’t perform well both commercially as well as critically. Yuvvraaj was the first movie where A. R. Rahman, Gulzar Shaib, and Subhash Ghai worked together.
