Salman Khan's worst film, ended lead actress's career forever, director quit films, earned only Rs..., not Race 3, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Tubelight
Some films featuring Salman Khan are loved by his fans, while others are one they’d rather forget- and it’s easy to see why. Even his biggest supporters would agree that some films just aren’t worth remembering. One of those movie came out 17 years ago. The film was rejected by Preity Zinta and eventually had an American heroine. The movie was a major box office failure, earning just over 12% of its budget.
The name of Salman Khan’s biggest flop film is Marigold, released in the year 2007. It is a romantic musical comedy about an American actress, whose life changes completely when she establishes connection with India. Hollywood actress Ali Larter played the lead role in the film opposite Salman Khan.
Made on a budget of Rs 19 crore, the Salman Khan-starrer earned only Rs 2.29 crore at the box office. Infact, it was a failure overseas too, earning just over Rs 1 crore internationally. Marigold became a disaster at box office due to various reasons. The film had such a negative impact that director Willard Carroll never made any film again. In fact, it also sanked lead actress Ali Larter’s career and she never featured in any Bollywood film again. The massive losses incurred by Marigold make it no shocker that director left filmmaking forever.
