The entertainment industry is mourning a deep loss after the demise of actor Satish Shah, who passed away at the age of 74. Known for his unforgettable comic timing, jolly nature, and larger-than-life screen presence, Satish Shah’s sudden death has left a deep void in the Indian cinema and the hearts of fans that can never be replaced. Satish took his last breath on October 25th after kidney failure.
Satish Shah made quite a mark on both television and the big screen. He featured in some noteworthy films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Main Hoon Na and the cult classic sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which made people smile and laugh across generations.
Ramesh Kadatala, his trusted aide and personal assistant for over 30 years, was the first one to break the news of his death.
With a career spanning several decades, Shah earned acclaim for his effortless humour and natural delivery in films like Maalamaal, Hero Hiralal, and Kal Ho Naa Ho. He was one of the most loved faces of the industry.
Actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, who was a friend of Satish Shah’s, opened up about what Shah was like as a person off-screen. He also revealed that Satish underwent a kidney transplant to take care of his wife. Sachin said, “He (Satish) wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of his Madhu Shah, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s.”
Sachin also said, “Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent bypass surgery, which was successful.”
Sachin further shared that his wife, Supriya Pilgaonkar, met Satish at his home three days before his death. “In fact, I received a message from him at 12:56 pm today, which means that he was absolutely fine even at that time. That I’m in shock is an understatement. Industry ka loss toh hua hi aur woh baat alag hai (It’s not just the industry’s loss), it’s a very, very big personal loss to me,” he said.
As tributes pour in from the entertainment industry, fans remember Satish Shah as an artist who lived with laughter and loved with all his heart. From the bond with his colleagues to his warmth and commitment to his craft, Satish was loved by millions, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations.
