Actor Raj Arjun relocated to Mumbai from Bhopal in order to pursue his acting career. The ‘Secret Superstar‘ actor has at last discovered his ticket to stardom thanks to films such as Article 370, Dear Comrade, Thalavii, and many more. During an interaction with india.com, Raj Arjun spoke about his scripts, daughter Sara Arjun, and working across different industries. Admitting that he is finally living the dream of being a renowned actor, Raj Arjun revealed how Farookh in ‘Secret Superstar‘ came as a big break when he lost hope. “Hum alag alag reasons se kaam karte hai lekin actors ko mann ka kaam chun chun ke aata hai (We work with different reasons but actors selectively get the work of their choice).”
Raj Arjun began his film career in 2004’s Black Friday, where he played the character of ‘Nasir Deklu.’ From then on, he mostly had small, supporting roles in movies like Khap (2011), Rowdy Rathore (2012), Devi (L), a Tamil comedy horror film in 2016, and Daddy, an Indian political crime drama helmed by Ashim Ahluwalia in 2017. With Secret Superstar, Thalavii and Razakar, the actor revealed feeling satisfied.
Raj Arjun disclosed that he had previously taken part in a play in which he essayed the role of Raja Dashrath. He was mocked for that performance at that time, which is when he decided to pursue acting. The actor, who got his start in theatre, feels that it taught him discipline and the value of respecting one’s craft. The actor believed he had no fear and vibed with the director, co-star, and camera.
Talking about joining Excel Entertainment for an upcoming project ‘Yudhra,’ Raj said, “They are very very humble and they treat actors like a family member. I remember when I signed this film, there was a big, big gift voucher that came to my door along with a small note to welcome me into the company. These small gestures make you feel important.”
Talking about choosing intense roles, the actor implied that he enjoys ‘meaningful,’ ‘thoughtful’ and ‘sensible’ cinema. He admitted that it has been a conscious decision to pick serious roles to challenge himself. “Mujhe kayi kayi baar neend nahi aati jab tak craft ready nahi hojata hai. Mein apni script ke pehle page par 10-15 din tak rehta, dusra page khul hi nahi paata kyuki pehle page par woh line hoti hai jiska soor nahi mil raha hota hai toh woh mujhe takleef deta hai (I don’t shift to second page because I used to stay on the first page of my script for 10-15 days. Sometimes there’s a line or a dialogue that just doesn’t struck a chord and it troubles me),” he said
Sara Arjun, the actor Raj Arjun’s daughter, is one of these extraordinary celebrity kids who, at the young age of 17, managed to achieve a remarkable feat. Revealing that he never planned for his daughter to become an actor. The ‘Thalavii’ actor told us that someone spotted her in a mall with him and well rest was history. He said, “I did nothing except teach her acting. I have not asked anyone to give her work or send her work to any label. We talk a lot and discuss work.”
For those who are unaware, she made her screen debut in a Hindi film after starting her career in commercials at the age of six. She starred alongside Vijay in the movie ‘Deiva Thirumagal‘ in 2010. She later appeared in high-profile movies with actors like Salman Khan in ‘Jai Ho,’ Emraan Hashmi in ‘Ek Thi Daayan,’ and Aishwarya Rai in ‘Jazba.’ Sara’s skill was evident in Telugu and Malayalam films, proving that her brilliance was not limited by language.
The addictive qualities of narcotics, alcohol, gambling, and even food are widely known, but not many people realize that social media is intentionally made to have the same compulsive impact on our brains. In regards to this, Raj Arjun said, “Hum karte hai kyuki humein identification chaiye. Humein existence pe sawaal hai. It makes them addicted.”
“Actually yeh marketing hai, strategy bann gayi hai. Market mein bikta wahi hai jiske baarein hum terror create kar paaye, jisse hum logo ko dara paaye ki yeh agar aapne nahi kiya toh aap khatam hogye, agar aapne yeh nahi khaaya ya yeh nahi peeya. Social media ne itna haua faila diya hai ki jo log nahi bhi maante hai woh bhi darr gaye hai (Actually this is marketing, a strategy has been made. There are things sold in the market within which we are able to create terror so that we can tell people that if you don’t do this then you will be destroyed, if you don’t eat this or drink this. Social media has spread it so much that people who don’t even believe get scared).”
The actor who doesn’t let the social media pressure get the best of him said, “Mein personally nahi maanta hoon. Agar mein apni life ki baat karun toh mein apni personal life ka dhindora kyu peetu? Mere ghar mein mene aaj apna birthday celebrate kiya ya mein aaj party ke liye gaya aur mein travel kar raha hoon uska dhindora pitun (I personally don’t think so. In regards to my life, why should I talk about my personal life on social media? I celebrated my birthday at home today, I went to a party today and I am travelling, why should I broadcast it).“
