Earlier there were reports suggesting that Bhushan and Krishan Kumar will be taking over the Shree Narayan Singh’s social-drama ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ from Prernaa Arora. Reportedly, Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ had to be due to non-payment of dues. Now, the latest development is that the film’s leads – Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor – have returned to Uttarakhand, where the film is set to resume. The actor had shot a long schedule in Tehri in February. In a statement to Mumbai Mirror, a source from the film, revealed, “Shahid and Shraddha will be shooting at Tehri and Dehradun for some important sequences till mid- June. After that they are to return to Mumbai to complete the last schedule. Talking about the film, Shahid had earlier told the daily, “It sounds cool but it’s very difficult to pull off. Meanwhile, Yami Gautam, who was last seen in Kaabil opposite Hrithik Roshan, is busy prepping for her role in Batti Gul Metre Chaalu. Yami, who plays a pivotal role in the film as a lawyer alongside Shahid Kapoor, is attending sessions at the High Court in Churchgate as part of her prep. Written by Vipul K Rawal and helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, (who helmed the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha) Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is slated to hit the silver screen on August 31, 2018. Shahid and Shraddha will be sharing the screen space after 3 years; they were first seen together in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’, which was a desi adaptation of Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet’.
