Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh were last seen in Padmaavat, which became the biggest Bollywood films of the year 2018. But during the film and post it’s release, there had been reports of all not being well between the two male leads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus. They both denied having bad blood between them and we thought it is better to trust them than to speculate. Interestingly, the two seem to be getting into a competition of sorts with their upcoming films. No, we aren’t talking about Shahid’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu (for which he is shooting for right now) or Ranveer’s Gully Boy (which he has already wrapped) but their other films – Arjun Reddy and Simmba. There are a few very interesting aspects that are common to both these projects and it makes one certain that there will be comparisons that will happen between the two once again. Even though they will not be sharing screen space like Padmaavat. Still wondering what makes Arjun Reddy and Simmba more common than you have noticed? Common inspiration

Yes, both Simmba and Arjun Reddy are films inspired by cult hits from South Indian cinema – Tollywood to be precise. While Shahid’s Arjun Reddy is a remake of a Telugu film of the same name, Ranveer’s Simmba is a Hindi remake of Telugu movie Temper. Do the new

Both the films promise to present the two actors in a never seen before avatar. Ranveer will be playing a cop, which we feel will be a mix of Salman Khan’s Dabangg and Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore. Shahid on the other hand will play a jilted lover who takes to alcoholism and faces anger management issues.

The lady loves

This is one of the most interesting parts. Both the films will star newbies as leading ladies. Sara Ali Khan, who will make her Bollywood debut with Kedarnath on November 30, will star with Ranveer in Simmba (December 28). Tara Sutaria, who makes her debut with Student Of The Year 2 on November 23, is touted to play the female lead opposite Shahid in Arjun Reddy (2019). These films will mark the second Bollywood outings of both these budding actresses and we cannot wait to see how well they succeed in owning the audience.

What a coincidence, right? Shahid and Ranveer are both super talented actors and therefore it is only natural for comparisons to be made. However, they both have their loyal fan following and have created their own mark in the industry and we are sure, even though the jury will stay divided, the two will end up impressing the audience at large.
