Shanaya Kapoor’s journey into Bollywood has taken time and patience. Her debut arrived after years of preparation, and 2025 finally marked her first appearance on the big screen. While the box office outcome did not match expectations, the actor says the experience itself mattered far more than numbers.
Shanaya Kapoor made her acting debut in 2025 with the romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, where she starred opposite Vikrant Massey. The film marked an important milestone in her career, as it was the moment she had long been waiting for. Though the movie struggled commercially, it introduced Shanaya to audiences and gave her a chance to showcase her work.
Reflecting on the film’s performance, Shanaya admitted that the commercial response did affect her emotionally. She said, “Of course, what happens commercially does hurt you a little. You want people to go watch your work in the theatres. But the love I got was so much. It was everything I was waiting for and when the moment came that my movie was out there, for me, that was everything.”
The actor also shared that she received several sympathetic messages after the film underperformed. However, she chose to focus on the joy of finally seeing herself on screen. She explained, “While I was getting messages like ‘It’s okay’, ‘things will get well’, there was this kid in me that was just beaming with joy that my film is out now. Whatever the fate of this film has been, I was giving my all and I’ve done it, it’s so much and honestly, I’m so proud of it.”
Released on July 11, 2025, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan struggled to gain momentum at the box office. The film opened with Rs 25–40 lakh in India and faced tough competition from bigger releases. It ended its theatrical run with an India net collection of around Rs 1.61 crore and a worldwide gross of approximately Rs 2.35 crore. The film later premiered on ZEE5 on September 5, 2025.
