Update: Vetran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at 79.
The first day of Holi 2016 turned out to be a rather amusing one for Bollywood’s famous Kapoor family. This is the day when rumours started flying on social media that veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, the seniormost of Kapoors alive and also the only son of Prithviraj Kapoor who is alive, is dead. But thankfully, it was just another death hoax. Fans, Shashi Kapoor is NOT dead!
The veteran Bollywood hero, who also acted in international films in his early days, is very much alive and kicking. Actor Rishi Kapoor, who is the son of Shashi Kapoor’s more famous brother Raj Kapoor, confirmed the death hoax on Twitter. “Uncle Shashi Kapoor is doing fine. Hope this ends all the speculation about him. Some rumour mongering is happening”, said Rishi Kapoor. Take a look at his tweet with Shashi Kapoor’s picture!

The other Kapoor family members were also hounded with calls to enquire about Shashi Kapoor’s death. The actor’s son Kunal Kapoor revealed to PTI, “He is at home… Stop spreading rumours. He is alive and is doing fine.”
Death hoax of Bollywood celebrities has become a fad in India. Time and again, the rumours of the death of legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar as also superstars Salman Khan and Yo Yo Honey Singh have surfaced, giving their fans a heart attack. We hope the pranksters stop resorting to this kind of a thing!
