The entire Indian film industry is currently in deep mourning as it has lost one of its most beloved icons, Dharmendra. Known for his timeless charm, strong screen presence, and impeccable acting, Dharmendra resonates with audiences across generations, which is just the epitome of his major stardom. Bollywood’s He-Man took his last breath at the age of 89 after battling a prolonged illness. The passing of legendary actor Dharmendra on November 24 left not just the industry grieving but also those who considered him more than a co-star. Among them was veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, whose recent visit to Hema Malini and her daughters Esha and Ahana, following Dharmendra’s demise, turned into an emotional and heartbreaking experience.
After Dharmendra’s demise on November 24, the Deol family organised a prayer meet on November 28. Hema Malini and her daughters were absent from this gathering, as Hema held a separate ceremony at her own home to honour her late husband. Several celebrities, including Mahima Chaudhary and Sunita Ahuja, visited Hema Malini to offer condolences. Sunita confirmed that Hema had hosted a sandhya at her residence in memory of Dharmendra.

Taking to his social media, Shatrughan Sinha shared a picture of himself and Poonam Sinha with their “family friend” Hema Malini, along with another photograph with Dharmendra.
Alongside the pictures, he wrote, “Met our dearest family friend @dreamgirlhema. It was heartbreaking to meet her in these traumatic times of her tremendous loss of our dearest family friend, our elder brother @aapkadharam. Met her two beautiful daughters @Esha_Deol #AhanaDeol and offered comforting words for their immense loss.”
In another message, he remembered Dharmendra with deep affection, writing, “Dharamji was a kind and gentle soul. He isn’t with us today, but his memories will live with us forever. Prayers and condolences for their peace in these difficult times. God bless them all. Om Shanti.”
Dharmendra and Hema Malini first met on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawaan in the 1970s. Their chemistry continued through films like Naya Zamana, Seeta Aur Geeta, Raja Jani, and Jugnu. Over time, their on-screen romance blossomed into a real-life bond. However, their journey was far from easy. Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur, and Hema’s parents initially disapproved of the relationship. Still, the couple chose each other. They married in 1980 and soon welcomed daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
Dharmendra’s passing has left a void in Bollywood that can never be replaced. Although Dharmendra is not with us today, he will always be remembered for his iconic roles and unforgettable memories.
