Late Veteran actress Sridevi, who passed away in Dubai due to accidental drowning on February 24, 2018, was to next seen in Karan Johar’s Shiddat, under the Dharma Productions’ banner, where she was cast along Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, for a prominent role in the film that is helmed by Abhishek Varman. But sadly the last film, where we will get a glimpse of the actress is Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero, where Sridevi has performed a cameo along with other Bollywood beauties in the film. Also Read - RRR's Soul Anthem 'Janani' Featuring Jr NTR-Ram Charan Will Give You Goosebumbs- Watch
The shooting of Karan Johar’s film was being planned and was to go on floors in a month or two. Buzz was that after Sridevi’s sudden and untimely death, Karan had decided to shelve the project. But looks like the filmmaker has found another veteran actress to replace Sridevi. Yes, you read that right. According to a report in Bollywood Life, “Madhuri Dixit-Nene has been roped to play Sridevi’s character in this cross-border period drama. The report further suggests that the makers are in talks with the dhak-dhak girl to play Sridevi’s role. Since Madhuri is close to Karan Johar, the actress feels becoming a part of this project will be her way to pay a memorable tribute to the late actress Sridevi. If the report (about Madhuri to step into Sridevi shoes) is anything to go by, then it’ll indeed be a great news for all Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri fans as it has been quite a while that the audience hasn’t seen the sparkling chemistry between the two ever since films like Saajan, Khalnayak, Thanedaar and among others. Helmed by 2 States director Abhishek Varman, the film has an ensemble cast starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. Johar’s Shiddat will mark his fourth collaboration with Bhatt and Dhawan after Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. On the professional front, Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s October and YRF’s Sui Dhaaga. Both films are slated to release in 2018. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt has some interesting projects for us in her store with films like Raazi, Brahmastra and Gully Boy. Watch this space for further updates.
