Adil Hussain’s Mukti Bhavan received a special mention at the National Film Awards 2017. The 64th National Film Awards announced its winners today and amid all the honours, this internationally lauded film received a special mention. Directed by Shubhashish Bhutiani, the film is a beautiful take on a father-son relationship. The filmmaker is quite touched with the recognition the movie received at the most coved award ceremony of the country. Coincidently, the film Mukti Bhavan happens to release in theatres for public view today, i.e. April 7, 2017. An elated Shubhashish Bhutiani said, “I am so honoured and thrilled to receive this award. It’s a film so close to my heart and I am so glad that Adil has been recognised. He is one of India’s best actors. It is such a wonderful coincidence that we have received this honour on the day of the film’s release. Mukti Bhavan also stars Geetanjali Kulkarni, Palomi Ghosh, Navnindra Behl, and Anil K Rastogi in prominent roles. The film is shot extensively in Varanasi and will take you to a special place, a house or a hostel, where people visit before death. The film’s English title is Hotel Salvation and the filmmaker penned the story on his Varansi visit when he discovered that people on their death bed visit this place. Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja was awarded as the Best Hindi Film and Akshay Kumar was honoured as the best actor for Rustom.
