Sonakshi Sinha opens up on her interfaith marriage, family bond, and exciting upcoming projects: ‘Religion has…’

In a candid chat on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Sonakshi Sinha spoke about her interfaith marriage, family relationships, and exciting new film ventures.

Sonakshi Sinha addressed questions about the significance of religion in her relationship, emphasizing mutual respect. Despite coming from different religious and cultural backgrounds, both she and Zaheer Iqbal honor each other’s traditions, and their families do the same.

She explained, “We are good as a couple. At home, we have different customs that he and his family follow, which I respect a lot, and some that my family and I follow, which they respect.”

Highlighting the harmony in their relationship, she added, “I think that’s the beauty of it. Religion has never been an issue between us. There has never been a question, argument, or tension about it, and I feel that’s the most beautiful part. Our strength lies in respect.”

How is Zaheer Iqbal welcomed by Sonakshi’s family?

Sonakshi shared that her parents have wholeheartedly embraced Zaheer. “He is 100% a son-in-law. When Zaheer comes home, everyone rushes around saying, ‘Zaheer is here, the son-in-law is coming… the food must be ready.’ My mom will ask me ten times, ‘What will he eat? What will he eat?’ and my dad loves spending time with him.”

She added with a laugh, “I think they (Shatrughan Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal) have genuinely become very good friends. So when I enter the room and see them together, I just stay quiet—they usually talk with each other!”

How do Sonakshi and Zaheer keep their love alive?

On sustaining a happy relationship, Sonakshi said, “We say we want to find someone we can grow old with. Being with someone like Zaheer, you realize you need a person with whom you can remain playful. That’s how laughter stays alive. You keep laughing continuously. It’s something that was missing in my life, and now that it’s here, I couldn’t be happier.”

What are Sonakshi’s upcoming projects?

Sonakshi also gave fans a peek into her upcoming films. She revealed that she has completed two new projects, including her first Telugu film titled Jathadhara, set to release by the end of the year.

She added, “I have completed another Hindi film, about which I can’t share much yet. It was a very different role for me, and I worked with a brilliant director, which makes me really excited. I also have another release coming soon, which hasn’t been announced yet, but there are many exciting things in store.”
