Actress Soni Razdan recently took a dig at actor Mukesh Khanna over his remarks on live-in relationships. Khanna, known for his iconic role as Shaktiman, expressed disapproval of Zeenat Aman’s endorsement of live-in relationships, deeming it “unacceptable” in Indian culture. Razdan responded to Mukesh Khanna’s conservative stance with a sarcastic remark, suggesting the potential complications if a live-in couple were to face relationship issues. Soni, on X, wrote, “Gosh. Can’t imagine what would happen if a couple live together in a ‘live -in’ relationship and don’t get along. The mind boggles (sic).”

In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Mukesh Khanna expressed his viewpoint on live-in relationships, stating that they are not aligned with Indian cultural values and traditions. He attributed the concept to Western civilization and suggested that Zeenat Aman, who advocated for it, has embraced Western ideals throughout her life.“Live-in relationships are not recognised in our culture and history. It has come from Western civilisation. Zeenat Aman is speaking about the matter, and she has lived her life according to Western civilisation from the very beginning”, he said.
The exchange of words came from Zeenat Aman‘s advocacy for couples to test their compatibility before marriage. Khanna emphasised the traditional values against such arrangements, warning of the potential consequences. The discussion sparked debate over cultural norms and modern relationship dynamics.
Aman on her Instagram post wrote, “Here’s a personal opinion I haven’t previously shared – if you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married! This is the same advice I’ve always given my sons, both of whom have had, or are in, a live-in relationship.”
She added, “It just seems logical to me that before two people get their families and the government involved in their equation, they first put their relationship to the ultimate test.”
Several other actors like Mumtaz, Saira Banu took a personal dig at Zeenat Aman’s live-in relationship advise.
