Last week Sonu Nigam stirred up a controversy by speaking against the use of loudspeakers atop mosques, temples and gurudwaras for religious purposes. Obviously, it caused a huge uproar. Some supported his stance, some made fun of him and some completely dissed him and suspected a foul play. One among them was actress Shraddha Das who is a neighbour of Sonu Nigam and questioned his stand by putting up a post on Facebook that read, “There are so many police vans and media outside Sonu Nigam’s house. I live right next to him, can see it from my window since the last few days but strangely I have never heard the Azaan in morning at my place. It is hardly audible. N now I hear he just shaved his head and for the first time there is so much traffic outside our homes.(sic)”
Today, Sonu gave it back to everyone, who called him a liar by posting a video on Twitter wherein the morning azaan can be heard. He captioned the video, “Goodmorning India”. Check it out right here:

If you will notice the video is shot around 5 am-5:30 am and sound of Azaan can be clearly heard.
Sonu referred to the terms gundagardi and “forced religiousness” in the angry tweets he posted after being woken up by morning azaan, speaking of which, he said that religious processions in which people push each other out of the way is also “gundagardi.” In an appeal of sorts to be not misinterpreted, he said: “Azaan and aarti are important, loudspeakers are not.” Check out his tweets from last week: ALSO READ: Hey Sonu Nigam, Kangana Ranaut doesn’t agree with you on your views about Azaan
