The mortal remains of Bollywood icon Sridevi has flown back to Mumbai on February 27, 2018, after the Dubai police officials determined that the actress had accidentally drowned in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness. Sridevi’s remains, which was brought back to India late on Tuesday (March 1, 2018) night on a charter flight (a private jet courtesy Anil Ambani), was then carried to Boney Kapoor’s house in Green Acres, Lokhandwala, Andheri by an ambulance. Sridevi’s last rites will be performed from 3.30 pm onwards at Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery in Vile Parle West. Before her last rites, a three-hour condolence meet (from 9.30 am to 12.30 am) is being held (on Wednesday morning) at the Celebrations Club in Andheri Lokhandwala, Mumbai.
The Kapoor family, including Arjun Kapoor, Marwah family, Sanjay, Rhea and Harshvardhan Kapoor have reached the club; they all are at the venue to participate in the condolence ceremony. Farah Khan, Sonam Kapoor with Anand Ahuja, Arbaaz Khan, Urvashi Rautela, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Karan Johar, among other celebrities from the film fraternity, have been photographed at the venue. Even Sridevi’s nephew Mohit Marwah, whose wedding the actress was attending in Dubai, has just reached the venue to pay his condolences. Sridevi’s remains are kept at the Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala, Andheri, where her fans, celebs, wellwishers, family, among others could come to offer their prayers and bid goodbye to the late Bollywood actress. Sridevi’s final journey will begin around 2 pm and following this Sridevi’s mortal remains will be carried to the Vile Parle cremation grounds for the funeral. At the venue, present is the actor Anu Kapoor, who said in a statement, “It’s media’s job to ask questions, it’s people’s call if they want to throw it in the dustbin or not. At this moment, the family is in a lot of pain. Daughters have lost their mother at such a young age. We should pray for them.” Watch this space for more updates on Sridevi’s last rites.
