India’s first female superstar, Sridevi‘s untimely death has shocked the entire nation. Fans still can’t fathom that the actress par excellence, who gave us memorable films, such as Sadma, Chaalbaaz, Chandni, English Vinglish among others, breathed her last on February 24th and that they will never get to see her on screen again. The actress who was just 54 years old, succumbed to a cardiac arrest and was found lying in the bathroom by her husband, who had come to check on her. The police and paramedics immediately rushed to the site, but she was pronounced dead. Her body was taken to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. It is really difficult to imagine what the family must be going through during this hour of grief, particularly her elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, who didn’t even get to meet her for the last time as she was busy shooting for her upcoming film, Dhadak, in Mumbai.
Sridevi’s mortal remains are still in Dubai, given the tedious legal and medical formalities. Blood tests and alchohol tests are being conducted, while the floor where she was staying has been sealed for investigations. Investigators have reportedly sealed her room as a crucial spot. Sources say that forensics are yet to submit their reports to the police. Boney along with his brother Sanjay Kapoor are currently doing the paper work, following which her body will be flown down to Mumbai via a private jet. As per the latest reports, her body will be ready for repatriation by 3 :30 pm Dubai Time, and will likely reach India by 7 : 00 pm, according to Khaleej Times.
The funeral will reportedly take place today in Mumbai at the Pawan Hans crematorium. Many stars are likely to pay their last respects to the legendary actress. Not just Bollywood stalwarts, South stars from across Tamil and Telugu industries are expected to attend the funeral. We just informed you that Thalaiva Rajinikanth has already arrived in Mumbai to bid his friend adieu. The two have worked together in nearly 20 films together in the 80s. Her first film, Moonru Mudichu, featured Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Apart from him, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Nagarjuna are also expected to attend the funeral. Filmmaker Bharathiraaja, Prakash Raj, K Raghavendra Rao are also expected to participate in the last rites.
