Mumbai, Feb 25: Sridevi‘s sudden demise has left her friends, co-stars and friends grief-stricken. Famous for her role in Sadma (1983), the actor, 54, died late on Saturday night due to cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. According to an Airports Authority of India source, a private jet is being flown to Dubai to carry the late actor’s mortal remains.

The aircraft which will bring Sridevi’s body is likely to depart from Mumbai around 1 pm and will arrive in Dubai at 4 pm. It is expected to reach Mumbai around 8pm. (ALSO READ: Hema Malini Recalls Her Last Meeting With Sridevi Where All She Could Talk About Was Janhvi’s Debut)

A report has quoted sources at the Indian Consulate in Dubai as saying that the Bollywood icon passed away in her hotel room at Emirates Towers at 11 pm (Dubai time) on Saturday. She was immediately rushed to Rashid Hospital in Dubai where she was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, the air outside Sridevi’s residence is heavy with grief as fans of the veteran actor continue to queue up to catch one last glimpse of their ‘Chandni’.

Bollywood actors including Riteish Deshmukh, Priyanka Chopra, Bhagyashree, Sushmita Sen, Nimrat Kaur, Richa Sharma took to twitter to express grief over the loss.

Sridevi was known for her iconic roles in Hindi movies like Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Sadma, and many more. The Padma Shri awardee actress had also made a mark with her stellar performances in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Sridevi is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and daughters, Jahnvi and Khushi Kapoor. She was last seen in Ravi Udyawar directorial Mom (2017) and was currently shooting for Anand L Rai’s Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan.
