The Kapil Sharma Show has been in the news lately for something bad. Bad in the sense the show is at the moment surrounded by controversy, courtesy a comment Navjot Singh Sidhu made about the Pulwama terror attack. Matters were not helped much after Kapil, who is the host of the show, came to his defence after calls for him to be sacked made rounds. Soon after, ‘Boycott Kapil Sharma’ started trending on social media, which has in turn put the fate of the show in jeopardy. But in all the melee, reports have emerged that Sunil Grover, who was earlier a part of the show, will be making an appearance. Kapil and Sunil had formed a formidable team when they were working together, churning out one comical episode after another. However, the two parted ways in 2016 following a rift. Now a report in DNA suggests that the latter will return to the show, but his appearance will not involve him doing his usual performances, instead he will be there with actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif for the promotion of their upcoming film, Bharat. “I had signed the show for 8 weeks only because my dates were locked for Bharat (Salman Khan’s film), the movie. I had made this clear even during the press conference and interviews that I could only accommodate this much time. I just want to thank the team who made this show happen including the channel and the guests who accommodated dates because of my schedule,” he was quoted as saying.
On being part of The Kapil Sharma Show, Sunil told an entertainment portal, “Salman sir is producing The Kapil Sharma Show. My own dates would have clashed (with Kapil’s show) as I am doing Bharat with Salman sir. But he (Salman) did speak to me briefly about it (bringing two of us together). We had a very casual chat about it but nothing much.”
Bharat, which is set to release during Eid this year, is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and jointly produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nikhil Namit and Salman Khan. The movie will also star Tabu, Disha Patani and Shashank Arora.
