Tamil actor Robo Shankar, popularly known for working with Dhanush in Maari, passed away at 46. According to media reports, the comedian turned actor fainted on set while launching a new project on Monday. Robo Shankar was rushed to a private hospital in Chennai, where his liver and kidneys were found damaged during initial tests. The Tamil actor passed away at 8:30 pm on September 18.
According to media reports, Robo Shankar’s cause of death is due to jaundice, which was diagnosed two years ago. Despite undergoing regular treatment and drastic weight loss, fans were concerned about his health.
Media reports claim that Robo Shankar participated in a couple’s TV show on Vijay TV with his wife, Priyanka, when Shankar fainted on set. However, crew members were quick to react and rushed him to a nearby hospital in Chennai. When the doctor initially treated him, he had dehydration and low blood pressure, which led to his fall. Later, he was shifted to the intensive care unit to assess his condition.
The prefix ‘Robo’ was given to the late actor for his impressive robot dance that caught the attention of the audience. Before becoming an established Tamil actor, Robo Shankar initially was a comedian, where he worked in a TV reality show, Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru. The comedian turned actor was praised for his on-point mimicry.

He later ventured into films like Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and Vaayai Moodi Pesavum. However, he was well recognised for his side role in Dhanush’s superhit rowdy film Maari, which caught everyone’s attention. This was the film where Robo Shankar’s dialogues became popular and rose again in the Tamil film industry.
