Actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for his iconic portrayal of Shaktimaan, refused an offer to sell the rights of the character to Yash Raj Films. After admitting that Pushpa 2: The Rule star Allu Arjun would be a suitable choice for the role of Shaktimaan in a reboot, Khanna also said he cannot endorse Ranveer Singh in the role, despite actor’s best efforts. In a recent conversation, the actor also revealed that he was contacted by Aditya Chopra’s team ten years ago, and that they wanted to buy rights of Shaktimaan. However, Mukesh turned down the offer.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Mukesh Khanna said, “Ten years ago, I was contacted by Aditya Chopra’s group. They asked me if I could give them the rights to Shaktimaan.” He shared, that coincidentally, around the same time, a fan-made picture of Ranveer Singh as Shaktimaan surfaced on social media, and then he suddenly got a call for the rights. However, Mukesh revealed that he declined the offer and instead proposed them a counter-offer. The actor said that he didn’t want to give away the rights as they would have turned it into a disco drama. Khanna added, “I told them, Tell Aditya, whoever he is, if you want to make it, make it with me’. I didn’t want to give away the rights only for them to make a disco drama. I refused.”

Mukesh Khanna wants Allu Arjun as ‘Shaktimaan’

In a video shared on his youtube channel yesterday, Mukesh Khanna expressed his thoughts on Allu Arjun’s potential to play the role of Shaktimaan. While clarifying that he is neither making a commitment nor passing the judgment, he stated that Allu Arjun could be an excellent choice for the iconic character. “Real life mein bhi acchi look hai, acchi height hai, sirf usko isme villain bana ke rakha hai. Inke baare mein kaha jaa sakta hai, socha jaa sakta hai ki inko lo. Iske chehre pe Shaktimaan laaya jaa sakta hai.” Khanna said.

Shaktimaan is one of the most beloved Hindi superhero television shows, aired from 1997 to 2005. The series starred Mukesh Khanna, Vaishnavi Macdonald, Surendra Pal, and others.
