Thalapathy Vijay took the box office by storm with his 2017 release Mersal. Despite running into controversies, the film raked in huge numbers at home and abroad, proving once again how grand a star Vijay is for Tamil movie goers. And now, news coming in about his 62nd project has fans in frenzy. The actor is teaming up with director AR Murugadoss for a magnum opus, to be produced by Sun Pictures. The announcement was made just a few minutes ago and fans have already started expressing their excitement, making Thalapathy 62 trend on Twitter.
The word ‘magnum opus’ has fans looking forward to what this hit actor-director jodi has in store for us. The news that Sun Pictures, that last produced Rajinikanth’s Enthiran in 2010, is producing this one has our expectations soaring. There is no doubt that the film will be a grand affair and with the fact that it brings together the hit jodi that has worked magic in Kaththi and Thuppaki in the past, we can only imagine what is coming our way.

As of now, only Vijay is on board and the rest of the cast is still being decided with some discussions already initiated. Vijay’s 62 is all set to go on floors in January 2018 and release on Diwali next year. The decision we hear is taken after the superstar tasted success with Mersal, that was also a Diwali 2017 release. We may also see a brand new face opposite Vijay in this one.
