Maddock Films’ horror-comedy “Thamma” has made a strong debut on the big screen. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal, the film was released on October 21st, the second day of Diwali 2025, and was expected to have a strong opening day. The makers released it with great expectations. Now, the first day box office collection of “Thamma” is out. Let’s take a look at how the film performed on its first day in theaters.

Thamma Box Office Collection

According to a new update from Sacnilk, “Thamma” earned Rs 24.87 crore on its release day on Tuesday. The film faced no major challenges in achieving this collection. Another film releasing this Diwali was “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.” The last major Hindi theatrical release was Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” which faced stiff competition from the Kannada release “Kantara Chapter 1.”

Thamma Could Not Break the Record of Stree 2

However, “Thamma”‘s opening is far below the previous film in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, “Stree 2,” which opened with Rs 35 crore last year. It also earned less than “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” which was released last Diwali. The Kartik Aaryan-starrer horror comedy opened with Rs 32 crore despite facing stiff competition from Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer “Singham Again.”

Thamma’s Plot

Thamma is the fifth installment in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, which also includes films like “Stree,” “Bhediya,” and “Munjya.” The film is based on the story of vampires. Ayushmann Khurrana plays a man who suddenly becomes a vampire. He then falls in love with Rashmika Mandanna, but new drama unfolds in their lives. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the film is described as a bloody love story.
