The Conjuring: Last Rites hit the silver screens in India on September 5, and kicked off on an impressive note. The film has become a serious competition to other domestic releases likes The Bengal Files and Baaghi 4, while solidifying its place as the top-grossing film of the day.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, The Conjuring: Last Rites earned an estimated Rs 17.50 crore across all languages on Day 2. This is an impressive figure, especially for a Hollywood film catering to the niche horror genre. On its opening day, the film amassed an estimated Rs 17.5 crore, including Rs 10 crore from English shows, Rs 6.35 from Hindi versions and Rs 1.15 crore from Tamil and Telugu versions. With this solid run, the film’s two-day net collection has reached Rs 35 crore in India.
With this impressive feat, The Conjuring: Last Rites has become the seventh-highest Hollywood grosser in India, trailing right behind Evil Dead Rise (Rs 36.50 crore). Overseas, early estimates have place international earnings at around Rs 125 crore, taking its global collection to almost Rs 250 crore in just two days of the release.
The Hollywood movie has outperformed Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 and director Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files, which minted Rs 21 crore and Rs 4 crore respectively on day 2.
Helmed by Michael Chavez, The Conjuring: Last Rites is a sequel to The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021). The film stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy.
