Going against her mother, Supriya Pathak married actor Pankaj Kapoor, a father of one child, in 1988. Supriya Pathak’s mother, a veteran Gujarati theatre and film artist Dina Pathak was strongly against her second marriage. Actually, she did not trust her future son-in-law Pankaj Kapoor that he would support her daughter for life. Before Supriya, Pankaj Kapoor was married to actress Neelima Azim and they had a son (Shahid Kapoor). Supriya’s mother Dina Pathak was afraid that Pankaj Kapoor might leave her daughter like his first wife. This is the reason why Supriya’s mother was against Pankaj Kapoor and her marriage. Sister Ratna Pathak Shah also tried hard to convince her but Supriya was not listen to anyone.
Like actor Pankaj Kapoor, it was also Supriya’s second marriage. The actress had her first marriage at a very young age before Pankaj. However, this marriage did not last long and within a year, the actress separated from her first husband. Ramleela’s famous actress was seen in Twinkle Khanna’s show Tweak India, where she talked a lot about her professional life as well as her family. During the conversation, the actress told the show that her mother could not trust Pankaj Kapoor even till the last moment. Even at the time of marriage, she tried a lot to convince her daughter, but Supriya Pathak was so immersed in the love of actor Pankaj Kapoor that she decided to marry him by putting everything aside.
Not much information is available about Supriya Pathak’s first marriage and her first husband. According to media reports, Supriya Pathak separated from her first husband within a year. After separating from her first husband, when the actress found love again with Pankaj Kapoor, her biological mother became the villain of her love story.
Talking about her mother Dina Pathak’s advice, she said that till her last days, she was not able to accept Pankaj Kapoor. Even after the couple had 2 children, she always kept saying that the actor would leave her.
