“We will kill you in such a way that your future generations will lose their sleep thinking about the fear of that death”. Veteran actor Raaj Kumar was known for his versatile acting, voice, and outspoken character. These are some of his dialogues, that people still remember him. Raaj was as outspoken on screen as in real life. This was the only reason why people in the Hindi cinema started disliking him. Raaj used to reprimand people in Bollywood by seeing even a little arrogance, but two actors in Bollywood crushed Raaj Kumar’s arrogance. The first actor to break Raaj Kumar’s arrogance.
The veteran actor was known for his aura of talking was similar to that of a policeman. It is said that Raaj didn’t hesitate to insult other actors on their faces. These two Bollywood stars said something to which he had never thought of. Actor Feroz Khan was the first actor to crush Raaj Kumar’s arrogance. It happened when the two actors were shooting for ‘Unche Log’ in 1965. Raaj Kumar noticed Feroz and said, “‘Look, this is your first film, I am also a part of this film, you have to do the film very carefully.” He further said that he would keep on teaching him how to work during intervals.
Even before Raaj Kumar completed his sentence, Angry Feroz stood up and said, “Don’t try to explain things to me. You do your work and I will do mine. I know how to work in my own way (sic).”
The second actor who crushed Raaj Kumar’s ego was none other than actor Nana Patekar. While shooting the film Tiranga in 1993. The makers had already roped in Raaj Kumar when it came to signing Nana Patekar, people suggested that the film will never be completed due to Nana and Raaj Kumar together. When Nana Patekar came to know that Raaj Kumar was already signed for Tiranga he backed out of the film and refused to accept the offer. However Nana accepted to do the film, but he had one condition if Raaj Kumar said anything or interfered, he would leave the film midway.
When Raaj Kumar came to know about this he said, “Why did you take Nana in the film? He is very illiterate’. Then Raaj asked- ‘Did Nana say anything about him.” However, the filmmaker responded, “You should neither say anything to him on the set nor interfere in his work.” Raaj Kumar replied, “Why should I interfere in his work.” After this Raaj Kumar thought it would be better if he maintained distance from Nana Patekar throughout the shoot of Tiranga.
