The highly-anticipated Malayalam crime thriller Officer on Duty released theatrically on February 20, 2025. Featuring Kunchacko Boban and Priyamani in lead roles, the film was penned by writer-director Shahi Kabir and was jointly bankrolled by Martin Prakkat Films and The Green Room, led by Siby Chavara and Ranjith Nair. According to Asianet News, the film overtook Rekhachithram with its Kerala Box office collections.

While Rekhachithram had held the record for the highest worldwide box office collection in 2025, Officer on Duty reportedly beat it with its successful theatrically run. Made in Rs 12 crore, the film’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 50 crore, becoming the most profitable 2025 Mollywood film.

The film has earned not just commercial success, but critical success as well. Officer on Duty follows the story of Harishankar, a strict and hot-headed police officer demoted from his position due to misconduct. Assigned as the Station House Officer in Aluva, Hari investigates a seemingly minor case involving a bus conductor attempting to sell a fake gold chain. However, this case leads him to a bigger crime network involving fake jewellery, abuse, and painful events from his own past. As he digs deeper, Hari faces his own personal struggles and fights for justice, leading to a dangerous battle with vengeful criminals.
