Have you ever heard that a film hits the theatres and then within the next 24 hours, the same film is released on OTT as well? You may not have heard, but these days, a film has come into the limelight for this reason.
The name of the film we are talking about is ‘DNA’, which has become a topic of discussion due to its unexpected digital release. Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan play the lead roles in this Tamil thriller film. Helmed by Nelson Venkatesan, the film was released in Tamil Nadu on June 20, 2025. The same film was released in Telugu as My Baby on July 18, 2025, under SK Pictures.
The story revolves around Anan, who is devastated by the death of his girlfriend and turns to alcohol. On the other hand, Divya suffers from borderline personality disorder and is unable to take things for granted and struggles to find a suitable life partner for marriage.
The film also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Tilak, Viji Chandrasekhar, Chethan, Riyatvika, Subramaniam Siva and Karunakaran in important roles. It is bankrolled by Jayanti Ambedkumar and S. Ambedkumar under Olympia Movies.
However, within 24 hours of its Telugu release, DNA was also released on Jio Hotstar the very next day, i.e., on July 19, 2025. The movie has hit the OTT platform in languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. It has been seen many times that a film is released on OTT immediately after hitting the theatres. This decision of the makers has surprised the film industry as it can have a direct impact on the box office earnings of the Telugu version.
Due to the very short time gap between the theatre release and OTT release, most of the audience may choose the digital version. It is an emotional and thriller film based on the life of Anand and Divya. The film has a rating of 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb.
