Tragically, Prem Nazir’s life was cut short when he contracted measles while being treated for a duodenal ulcer at Vijaya Hospital in Chennai. He passed away on January 16, 1989, at the age of 62. His body was transported to Thiruvananthapuram and buried with full state honors.
