Hema Malini has reigned over Indian cinema for decades. Her captivating performance and timeless beauty has secured a permanent place in the hearts of audience. Popularly known as The Dream Girl, she has worked with legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rajinikanth, Dev Anand, and her legacy continues to inspire generation of all actors.

There was one more star that Hema Malini shared screen space, with whom she had the experience of working for the first time. During the shooting, something happened that created a ruckus on sets and the film unfortunately got delayed.

Recently, The Dream Girl appeared on the music show Indian Idol 15 to celebrate their special Holi episode. While the performances set the tone for a nostalgic journey, Hema Malini recounted her experience of working with superstar Feroz Khan. The actress recalled that while filming Kya Khoob Lagti Ho, Badi Sundar Dikhti Ho song for the film Dharmatma, Feroz Khan got annoyed and kicked something in anger, which he later realised was her makeup box.

Hema Malini recalled a heartwarming story that Fardeen Khan previously shared about her and Feroz Khan. She said, “It was during the shoot of the song ‘Kya Khoob Lagti Ho, Badi Sundar Dikhti Ho’. Feroz Khan ji was a very passionate filmmaker, and during a blast scene at the end of the song, there were people laughing in the background, because of which he got angry and kicked something out of anger. He later realised that it was my makeup box”. Due to the chaos, the shooting of the film got delayed for almost half a day. She jokingly added, “There was pin-drop silence after that for two days because everyone was scared. He said sorry after he realized it was mine.”

Dharmata was successful at the box office and took Feroz Khan’s career to new heights. It was Khan’s first successful film as a director and producer. Following this, Hema Malini worked with Feroz Khan in Sharafat Chhod Di Maine (1976), which is considered a cult classic and underrated gem in Hindi cinema.
