However, with time, hesitation has eased, and now, intimate scenes are no longer uncommon in films. Today, we will tell you about an incident where an intimate scene was being shot, but it left the actress extremely vulnerable and at risk. The lead actor in the scene lost control and kissed the actress so hard that she was left bleeding.
Yes, while this may sound absurd, it actually happened in a film. This incident took place during the shoot of the 1988 film Dayavan when lead actor Vinod Khanna couldn’t control himself and kissed the lead actress cast opposite him. The actress was hardly 20 years old at the time, and the incident left her horrified. We are talking about 20-year-old co-star Madhuri Dixit.
Helmed by Feroz Khan, Dayavan was a remake of the 1987 Tamil film Nayakan. The movie starred Vinod Khanna, Feroz Khan, and Madhuri Dixit, with Aditya Pancholi in the lead roles.
During the shoot of the film, there was a scene where Vinod Khanna was supposed to kiss Madhuri Dixit. As per reports, when the scene started, Vinod Khanna lost control, and despite the director yelling ‘cut,’ the actor did not stop kissing Madhuri Dixit, saying he had ‘lost control.’
The actor bit Madhuri’s lips so badly that she was left bleeding and in shock. Madhuri was extremely horrified after the scene and could not stop crying. However, Dayavan’s director, Feroz Khan, and Vinod Khanna himself later persuaded her and even apologized for the incident.
After the movie was released on the big screen, it was surrounded by controversy regarding the kissing scene. A notice was reportedly received by director Feroz Khan to remove the scene, but he refused to comply. Additionally, some reports claim that Madhuri requested the scene to be removed. However, Feroz did not listen to her and reportedly paid her Rs 1 crore specifically for the scene.
The film was eventually completed and became a blockbuster upon release. However, Madhuri Dixit and Vinod Khanna never collaborated again after Dayavan. It also became one of the final hits of Vinod Khanna’s career.
