Back in the vibrant 90s, when Indian advertising was booming and fashion faces were gaining stardom, a fresh face walked into the spotlight. With a chiseled look and effortless charm, he quickly became the talk of the modeling world. During one of his early ad shoots, a future global beauty queen noticed his potential and famously dubbed him the “next supermodel.” This unexpected praise came from none other than the reigning queen of elegance, Aishwarya Rai.
The actor we are talking about is Sudhanshu Pandey, who is best known for his astounding role as Vanraj in ‘Anupamaa.’ In a recent conversation, Sudhanshu remembered seeing Aishwarya before the actress was crowned Miss World and discussed his reaction upon getting accolades from her.
Talking to Varinder Chawla’s team, Sudhanshu reminisced and recounted his first encounter with Aishwarya Rai. He said, “I had met Aishwarya, I think, in Bombay when I had visited Ashok Salim’s studio in Bombay, he was a rather large photographer. Following my initial campaign, I had gone to his studio and had come to shoot my second campaign, Nivea Cream and I met Mahima and Aishwarya both; they were filming for Pepsi.
During their talk, Aishwarya Rai told Sudhanshu Pandey to relocate to Mumbai. The actor said, “She was really appreciative and I recall viewing some interview where she said that, you know, someone asked, so who do you think is the next big thing. She started before I did, so she noted, Sudhanshu, you know, I feel is the next big thing, which is quite good. She was perhaps a year or two older than me.”
Recently, Sudhanshu Pandey stole hearts with his performance in ‘The Traitors.’ Hosted by Karan Johar, the reality show featured an impressive ensemble including Uorfi Javed, Harsh Gujral, Purav Jha, Karan Kundrra, Apoorva Mukhija, Raj Kundra, Nikita Luther, Elnaz Norouzi, Sufi Motiwala, Ashish Vidyarthi, Maheep Kapoor, Lakshmi Manchu, Mukesh Chhabra, Raftaar, Janvee Gaur, Sahil Salathia, Jannat Zubair and Anshula Kapoor.
Apart from his OTT and television work, Sudhanshu Pandey has appeared in several Bollywood films, including ‘Singh Is Kinng,’ ‘Khiladi 420, which was his debut film’ and ‘Dus Kahaniyaan,’ among others. But it was his performance as Vanraj in the Star Plus series ‘Anupamaa’ that made him gain a huge stardom from this show.
