Today we are talking about an iconic film which dominated at the box office for months. The film in question is none other than Raja Hindustani, starring Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles. While the film churned out good numbers at the box office, there was a sequence where the director wanted to shoot a kissing scene in the rain.

Raja Hindustani hit the theatres on 15 November 1996. At that time, Karisma Kapoor was very young. In an interview with Waves Retro, filmmaker Dharmesh revealed shocking details about the kissing sequence of Aamir and Karisma. He revealed that Karisma’s mother came on sets for three days for the shooting of the sequence.

The film director revealed that the entire kissing scene was shot in front of her mother Babita Kapoor. She made her look comfortable by visiting the set for three days for filming the sequence.

Darmesh wanted to shoot the sequence in the rain, but it got interrupted due to the rain coming and going off at times, so the makers decided to shoot the sequence over three days.

Many may not know this, but the liplock scene of Raja Hindustani is considered to be one of the longest kiss scenes in Bollywood, at that time it was also said that 47 retakes had to be taken to perfect this iconic scene. To create more buzz among the audience, Darshan had further revealed that the makers had initially decided to show the kiss scene on the film’s poster. However, they later dropped the plan.
